Payment Bond Claim Notice

21 minutes

A payment bond claim can be served alongside a stop payment notice as another avenue for a subcontractor or materials supplier to secure payment. Both actions start the clock on the deadline to file a lawsuit, which puts pressure on the owner or direct contractor who has delayed payment. Payment bonds are almost always required by law for public works projects. A subcontractor or materials supplier can usually serve a payment bond claim notice only if a preliminary notice was served at the beginning of the project.
